CENTRAL ASIAN SHEPHERD DOGS
are an ancient breed of livestock guardian. They are massive
and powerful dogs with great working qualities. In their
native territories they protected flocks from wolves and their
instincts for guarding, whether it be livestock or their humans,
are excellent. They make great watchdogs, but are not for the
faint-hearted! Most suited for farm life, they are a
'thinking' dog - we joke that our dogs "sleep with one eye open".
They don't miss a thing, even when lazing about in the sun.
They are known for their ability to size up a situation,
decide whether action needs to be taken and then either deal with
it, or ignore it.
Of our two dogs, the male
looks after the property and our horses, and the female tends to
look after the humans and our Shetland pony!
